About the area

Milford is a delightful village steeped in history near the upper end of the Black River, the largest river in The County. Highlights include the Mount Tabor Theatre, the Milford Bistro and a beautiful waterfall on private property that can only be seen in April during the Rotary Club’s annual waterfall tour.

East and North (on the way to Waupoos) you’ll want to stop in the little hamlet of Black River with one of the oldest collective cheese factories in Canada — Black River Cheese. While you are buying fresh curds or standing in line for ice cream, send some of your group across the road to pick up a souvenir at the Galloping Goat. Continue around the corner to the old post office – now Vicki’s Veggies farm stand for delicious ecologically certified produce.

Located Southeast of Milford is the increasingly popular, yet remote, South Bay. On a hot summer’s day, your best bet for cooling off is a short hike through the woods and then a dip in the pristine waters at the Little Bluff Conservation Area. Enjoy the quiet pebble beach with endless stones for skipping and take in the view of the marsh and cliffs which provide habitat for a wide variety of birds and animals. This area is illustrative of the high limestone cliffs common in The County.

Follow County Road 13 all the way to its southern most tip, stopping at Blizzmax gallery if open, and find Point Traverse, a beautiful natural area with the Prince Edward County Bird Observatory.
